Gas Furnaces Definitely Have a Limited Amount of Life in Them

The gas furnace wouldn’t turn on, blow air, or do anything that the gas furnaces need to do

This December has been quite a December for my gas furnace. Every one of us have had our gas furnace for a really long time, which means that our gas furnace is nearing the end of its life. It won’t be long before the gas furnace won’t work, & all of us will have to find a different way to heat our home. This December was the first apparent sign that our gas furnace will not survive another winter. I can’t tell you how numerous complications all of us had with our gas furnace, although I hope to document some of them for your future reference. First of all, our gas furnace stopped running randomly in the middle of the night for most of the winter. I can’t tell you the number of times I woke up at 2 AM to find out that our gas furnace was blowing cold air. I would turn it off & back on, & when I did that, the gas furnace would light back up again & start heating our home. Towards the end of the winter, randomly throughout the day, I would discern a hissing sound coming from our gas furnace room. Apparently, multiple bearings were in need of repair or replacement with our gas furnace. Finally, in the last three weeks of the winter, the gas furnace wouldn’t work another minute. The gas furnace wouldn’t turn on, blow air, or do anything that the gas furnaces need to do. I suddenly ran to the store & bought a small propane space heating system to tide us over for the next few weeks, & I realize that I am going to have to schedule an appointment with a Heating, Ventilation & A/C specialist to order a modern gas furnace. I have also been considering trying out an odd type of gas furnace, now would be the time to make that decision!
