I have been silently dreading this but, it has happened and I need to do what I need to do.
- The HVAC tech told me a couple of years ago that our heating and cooling unit was starting to fail.
The HVAC had like 17 years on it at that point. The idea that it was going to give out was not any great surprise given how long it had been heating and cooling our home. But, I sure could have done more to be a bit more prepared than I am. Now, I am faced with a definitely dead HVAC unit. The house was humid and hot first thing this morning. I thought maybe someone left a window open. However, it only took me a few minutes of being awake before I knew that the HVAC unit was done. I called the HVAC people who sent out an HVAC technician who confirmed what I already knew. An HVAC contractor showed up an hour later to go over our options. Man, was that guy a godsend. He came in the house with a “we got this” attitude that was totally infectious. The drama of the situation just seemed to melt away due to this guy’s professionalism and knowledge. It took a few hours but we found an HVAC that would be great. The model we chose would also fit our budget because the HVAC contractor made the financial terms easy to accept. He then went to his truck and brought in several portable air conditioners for free. We could use these to stay comfortable until the new HVAC was installed.
