We bought our car when it was brand new and now it is a collectible.
We want to keep the car, but it needs a new HVAC system and my husband is no longer able to do that kind of close work. I don’t know what car we will use when we go on vacation this summer. That is our travelling car. If someone had told me that a sports car is easier on gas than a compact car, I would have laughed. We have ‘96 Corvette convertible that is a collector’s edition and it gets a little over 40 MPG. Normally, my husband would do all of the repairs himself, but we are getting older now and he is afraid to attempt the climate control unit now. When he realized the air conditioning wasn’t working, he parked the Vette in the back of the garage and it has been all but forgotten. He says he is going to sell it to the highest bidder and he isn’t looking back. We have less than 40,000 miles on the odometer and it is over 20 years old. I don’t know if the HVAC is going to be expensive to fix, but I know that it will probably cost a lot for the labor. Every time one of our Vettes need work, it always cost a lot of money. If you know anyone who would like to buy a 96 Corvette that is in need of a new HVAC system, give me a call. I’m in the phone book and I’m home all day long.
